Terms of Service

Domestic orders:

May be processed directly through our online shopping cart for items listed on our in-stock products page A ‘domestic order’ includes orders to be shipped to: within the contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

Following credit card authorization, an order for stocked merchandise is generally processed and shipped from Shelter Island within two business days. We utilize USPS (Flat Rate Priority Mail) or UPS (Ground) to ship all domestic orders. Standard shipping time is typically 2-6 days to most locations. This timeframe does not include weekends or holidays. You’ll receive a tracking number via email once your order has shipped.

Shipping costs will automatically be calculated at checkout. We ship for a flat rate of $10, for a single item or any combination of items totaling under $200. Orders of $200 or more (before shipping costs or any special offers) are shipped for free. If your order total, qualifies for free shipping - enter promotional code ‘shipfree’ on checkout page under ‘coupons’.

*Sales tax is charged when shipping to locations in our home state of New York. NYS Sales Tax will automatically be calculated at checkout, based on state and local sales tax rates for the particular NYS location / address to which your package is being shipped.

Payment options:

We accept most major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club.

International orders:

Currently we are unable to process international orders directly from our online cart. 

To place an international order, please contact us by email at info@8knots.net and we’ll work with you on getting your order processed. We have shipped to Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea, and are looking forward to expanding this list. Here’s how it generally works: 

Let us know by email what you’d like to order, along with your complete shipping details (your name and full ship-to address. Phone number is also helpful).

You’ll receive a return email with a pro-forma invoice showing your total, including shipping costs. Orders will be shipped by USPS International Priority Mail Service. Note: customs duties and taxes charged by the destination country are not covered in the cost of international shipping. We can not provide estimates nor reimbursements for these charges. Once you have confirmed that all details on the pro-forma invoice are satisfactory, you’ll receive a request for payment by email, through our credit card service, Square. Square Register accepts most major credit cards, including: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. A receipt from Square will automatically be sent to you via email.

We offer gift-wrapping in 8knots signature packaging, plus a unique, hand-printed MAU-HOUSE notecard. $20 per each giftwrapped box + card (adding a personalized message to the notecard, is optional). Visit our gift page for more details.


Privacy Policy:

Your privacy and the security of your personal credit card information are important to us. Personal and credit card information is solely used by 8knots for order placement and preferred customer mailings, and is never sold to a third party. As a preferred customer, you may unsubcribe from our distribution list at any time.


Returns:

Please note that we typically do not offer refunds or returns, except in the case of damaged items. In the unlikely event that you have received a damaged item, please contact us immediately (within 48 hours of receipt) at info@8knots.net and we will provide instructions regarding the return. Damaged items must be returned unused, and in their original packaging, including all original packaging materials, and accessories such as hangtags.
